Well, yesterday was quite the adventure--at least it was compared to my every day life. Yesterday was Saturday as you may not know, and I had been trying all week to get my manuscript printed and ready to send to Mr. Editor, but it seemed as if Someone didn't want me to get it out until yesterday, because my efforts were put on hold several times! First, the printer ran out of ink. I waited about two or three days to be able to get some black ink for it, but when I tried to print my story, the device refused to print it for two more days! That's not all. Of course, I didn't wait at my desk for two days, so I was busy elsewhere when the pages started shooting out. When I came back into the office, my cover letters were sprawled around the room and trampled on (by one of the imps who live with me in Aprilla's boarding house) along with the remains of the copying paper I had! It was the best I could do to smooth out the least crumpled, cleanest sheet I could find and use it to print another copy of my cover letter--my manuscript had survived the disaster.
After that, I prepared for my expedition to the post office. I would have been much encouraged if it had been raining, but the sun was shining. It was sweltering outside, but after gathering my portfolio into a bag and tying my favourite black ribbon into my hair, I began my walk. The trip to the office was trying, because I had borrowed flip flops from a sprite and they gave me blisters, but once I finally reached the fly-infested post office, the nice lady at the desk gave me a big envelope for free!
And so began the journey of my newest story, "An Account of My Most Dangerous Encounter." (Hopefully) coming soon.
